Dear Rori
What can I say? After about five plus years we are ending a critical, essential, fundamental part of our families' lives. You have taken such phenomenal care of my children over all these years! How can I ever thank you?
You have been friend, confidant and peer for me over the last years raising my children. I know that Molly and Paul will never, never forget you or your Mother! I imaging that you will not forget them either - for any number of reasons!
And we won't let that happen anyway! I know that you and I will try to maintain a relationship afterwards - I also know it will difficult at times. But I do know that it will continue - not necessarily in the same way - day to day - but it will endure.
Molly and Paul's official last day is the 15th of August 2003. I hope you and Andy and Alana will join us sometime in the fall up Point Sebago! We'd love to have you all!
To Whom It May Concern;
This letter is to express my sentiment regarding the excellence in early education and care provided to the children of the Academic Fun Preschool daycare center. I have first hand knowledge of these facts, secondary to my children's' accounts as well as what I witnessed upon visiting the day care.
My name is Vicki M. My two children attended Academic fun preschool between the years 1994 through 2001. I work as an RN at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. With my hectic schedule, the daycare was such a joy, and the teachers and staff were always very accommodating and loving towards my children. As you may imagine, it is very stressful to leave ones' baby in a daycare center, however, I always felt comfortable knowing that my child / children were kept safe, sound and always nurtured appropriately with the caregivers.
Rosemarie Lowney and Academic Fun Preschool have made a tremendous impact on my life and the lives of my children. My boys, now aged 8 and 10 years old have many fond memories of their early childhood and have celebrated many 'firsts' at this preschool. It is with utmost confidence that I recommend Academic fun preschool as an excellent learning environment with caring staff. I have no reservations in recommending my friends and family to this daycare, since I have experienced only the best in child care at this school.
Sincerely,
Vickie

We I’ve been part of the Academic Fun "family" for the past six years. We have three children and they have been or currently are enrolled at Academic Fun. When we use the word family, it is not a term used loosely. Rori and her entire staff have always made us feel and we in turn have felt truly part of this wonderful family. Our children have always felt loved and cared for, which has allowed them to develop emotionally, physically and intellectually to strong beautiful children inside and out.
We started our journey when our oldest daughter was almost two years nine months (in the Pre-school) and our son 10 months (in the upstairs home daycare). We had no other daycare experience except our family providing home daycare in their house. We thought that this would be a big difficult adjustment but made our way through this transition with ease, thanks to the help of a kind loving staff.
Our daughter's first milestone at pre-school was potty training. We came to daycare on a Monday morning and told Rori that she has been doing well all weekend and she is ready for no diapers. There was certainly hesitation at first with the thought of so many children to care and assist and a newly questionably trained child. Rori graciously took it all in stride and told us she would work with us and go with underwear vs. pull-ups, if our daughter was able for it. Indeed she was and with the patience and tolerance of
Academic Fun we had no issues and one less child in diapers. Our daughter continued to grow by developing friendships, which she still remembers fondly. She had her challenging moments as well and had her episodes of tantrums and the like (which are not uncommon to any child) but again was handled professionally and lovingly. We were always made aware of any such events and were able to work with the staff to resolve these issues. Our daughter continued to learn and grow through consistent and loving staff and an appropriate curriculum focused on all areas of child development. She learned letters, writing, phonics and by the time she left for Kindergarten she was reading as well.
Our son also took to the new environment as well. We had our own set of concerns with him as he was younger, just walking and had not been separated from his sister prior to this. They were both at Academic Fun but able to benefit from the two varying programs available. His developmental milestones also were consistently being reached. The focus on language through music, fun and play far exceeded my expectations and before I knew it my son was talking to everyone. Those years upstairs at the home daycare did seem to fly by and then he was ready to be a "big boy" and transition downstairs to the Preschool. This transition was again an easy one to handle. Our son jumped right in with the rest on the children and did wonderfully. He is a very different child (personality wise) from our daughter but this was keenly recognized and the approaches for handling any issues and for learning was adjusted accordingly as any "great" teachers does. He remembers fondly the annual 'Thanksgiving Feast" and "Halloween Dress up Party". He too participated in the school's wonderful curriculum and was reading before leaving for kindergarten. Not only was our Son beginning to read, but during the first month of kindergarten was tested and determined to be reading at a second grade level and has continued to progress in the past year and is now happily reading ""Harry Potter", in which he has finished the first book and half way through the second book. When asked regarding this he will tell us "reading is my hobby”. We do thank Academic Fun for instilling in him his love for reading.
Last but certainly not least, is our baby boy (now almost two). He started at the daycare when he was just four months old. Although this was my third child at the school, having one start as an infant was very new to me. I was so nervous at first that the staff would be able to keep to the schedule that we had in place and still manage to take care of all the other children. I was quickly reassured by Rori that they would be able to do this and she recognized how important it is to keep to an infant's schedule. The staff was able to recognize when perhaps the schedule need adjustment for our sons benefit- for example needing an increase in feeding frequency or amounts. As a mother who is very focused on details and amounts, I was able to pick him up everyday and would have communication with the staff to know what and how much he ate, how well he slept and even his bowel pattern. This time around we have been able to see all the early milestones and developmental stages be reached while daily attending daycare. Our son has wonderfully mastered them as well as our other children prior. He goes off to school daily and is very happy and relaxed while there.
We truly feel that Academic Fun was and still is the place for our children to be. As many households with two working parents, there are times when those feelings of guilt or wishing you could be the one with them all the time arise. These feelings don't go away but we are comforted in knowing that our children are being well cared for and loved while we can't be there. We have always felt part of the Academic Fun family and who better to care and teach our children, but our family.

Dear Rose Marie Lowney,
Our son Cameron had a wonderful experience while attending the Academic Fun Preschool & Daycare for the last three and a half years. Cam really developed and expanded his social skills while making a lot of mends over the years. Cam learned how to interact with other children very well. He was given many opportunities to grow and learn new skills and yet still have fun each and every day. Cameron learned to read (and loves reading), he has also learned to do basic math (he can do addition and subtraction in his head without having to write the numbers down) as well as tell time.
Pam and I really appreciated the disciplined and structured environment that the staff at Academic Fun Preschool & Daycare created on a daily basis. Cam really loved all the teachers that he came in contact with while there and Pam and I just wanted to say thank you for making this a fantastic time for all of us.
As Cam moves on to kindergarten this full I know that he will leave Academic Fun Preschool & Daycare with many fond memories.
